Blushing Mabé Pearl & Ruby Pendant in Gold

A luminous mabé pearl is the shining star of this graceful and elegant pendant. The pearl is bezel set in 14k yellow gold. A sinuous gold leaf curls up around the pearl to form the bale. Three tiny rubies spangle the piece like dewdrops. The pearl has a blushing pink luster, highlighted perfectly by the red rubies. This necklace is a charming example of sophisticated 1980s style. The bale is stamped "SXS 14kC." Circa 1980.

Mabé pearls, also known as blister pearls, are half-pearls cultivated on the inside of a mollusk's shell.
