Matinee Length Pearl Necklace with Decorative Diamond Clasp

Glossy matinee-length pearls with a lovely diamond studded clasp. These cultured pearls are lustrous, creamy white, and hand-knotted on white silk. The platinum and 14k white gold clasp is pierced and engraved with a delicate geometric design, then set with five small diamonds. The platinum and diamonds complement and elevate the pearls' natural beauty. Circa 1940.

Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.

Details....The necklace is 21" long. The pearls measure 7.4mm in diameter, and the clasp is .35" by .67". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it a part of the charm.
