Mesmerizing 970 grade silver cufflinks from the important artist Antonio Pineda. The links' oval faces are curved in a way that catches the light and holds it like liquid mercury. Simply elegant. The faces are set on classic toggle fasteners. These collectible cufflinks bear Pineda's maker's mark, as well as the Mexican Eagle 58 mark. Circa 1940.
The Mexican city of Taxco is renown for the production of superb silver jewelry. Its abundant silver and semi-precious gems attracted designers and studio jewelers from all over the world. Antonio Pineda was born in Taxco in 1919. He apprenticed with William Spratling before opening his own workshop in 1939. Pineda's Modernist style was bold and architectural, and his jewelry is amongst the most technically refined ever made in Taxco.
Details.....The cufflink faces measure 1.08" by .82". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of its charm.
