Mexican Sterling Pendant with Malachite Inlay
A lovely little pendant of Mexican sterling silver inlaid with malachite. The pendant is a softened square, with rounded edges and a small integrated bale. A second, larger bale allows this piece to be work on a wide variety of chains, ribbons, leather thongs, etc. There is nothing quite like malachite, with its gorgeous swirling striations of every imaginable shade of green. Marked on the back "Mexico," "TO-02" and "925." Circa 1980.
The "TO-02" mark indicates this piece was made in the Mexican city of Taxco, by the second silversmith to register their mark at the Taxco assay office with a name beginning with "O." This alphanumeric hallmarking system was instituted in 1979.
Details.....The pendant measures 0.52" wide and 0.76" long, 1" with bale. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
