Nothing is more timeless that a good strand of pearls. Mikimoto invented cultured pearls, they were the first and remain the best. This strand of lucent, creamy white Mikimoto cultured pearls are graduated and hand knotted on white silk. The pearl-set sterling silver clasp bears the Mikimoto makers mark. This timeless strand of pearls is just the right length to wear alone or layered with other necklaces. Circa 1930.

Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.

Details....The necklace measures 21.5" long and the pearls graduate from 3.1mm to 7.3mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on Vintage and Antique Jewels, we consider it a part of the charm.
