Robins egg blue was the preferred color for turquoise in the 19th century. It was used in love tokens to represent the forget me not, showing your love she was always in your heart. The blue gem was as likely to be glass, as this one is, as turquoise, after all it was the color that mattered, and for a time Persian turquoise was difficult to source. This bright blue beauty is surrounded by ten lovely chunky old mine cut diamonds and held in a rosey 18k gold setting. Dating from circa 1880 it is in good condition for its age.
