An ornate Bedouin silver belt, adorned with tiny bells and sensual swags. Low grade silver has been woven into a flat mesh belt. The belt is banded with decorative bosses: small, round shields that are beaded and engraved. The belt clasps about the waist with a decorative hook and eye closure, while wee bells and swags of chain flow over the hips. A bohemian beauty, wear this fabulous belt over your favorite flowing summer dresses. Circa 1920.
The Bedouin are a traditionally nomadic tribal people originating from the Arabian Peninsula. Bedouin jewelry is made of silver and is often set with amber, turquoise, coral, agate, or carnelian. Necklaces and pendants typically feature silver bells, balls, beads, or coins.
Details.....The belt is 33" long and 0.65" wide. The swags measure 3" long. In Very Good Vintage Condition. Small imperfections are to be expected and are considered part of the charm.
