Poissarde 18k Gold Earrings Garnet and Pearl

Poissarde Earrings are very rare to find, and this pair is in its fitted box! These earrings are in wonderful condition and feature repoussé gold design on the front with a rose cut garnet surrounded by pearls. There is a small loop to the back top of the wire which keeps the earring from tilting too far forward, and a curved wire in the center which helps the hoop keep its shape. These earrings are fitted to be put thru the back of the ear and just for added detail the back hoop has a light faceted design. 18k yellow gold circa 1800-20.

Poissarde translates to fishwife, this style of long fronted hoop style earrings was popular throughout the late 1700's and very early 1800's when the fashion was to wear very simple Greek inspired dress.

Details...The earrings measure 1.38" x .54" wide at the front.  In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
