Purple Passion Crystal Brooch by Sherman

An adorable little rhinestone brooch signed by Sherman. Sherman was known for using the highest quality Swarovski crystals; this piece creates the illusion of a small cushion using dark purple rounds and the palest lilac baguettes. The stones form a grid; the rounds are prong-set, and the baguettes are bar-set in the heavy, well-crafted rhodium-plated setting marked Sherman on its back. Circa 1950.

Gustave Sherman founded his Montreal manufacturing company in 1947. By the 1950s, Sherman Costume Jewelry had established itself as Canada’s foremost costume jeweler. His work appeared on runways in Paris and New York. Sherman, whose slogan was “made to last a lifetime,” demanded the highest quality in workmanship and material.
