This lovely Regency era sash buckle is made of gold over silver, with an undulating open work vine pattern set with rose cut sapphires. The pink and bluish-gray sapphires sit in closed-back settings. Delicate engraving enhances the metal work. The buckle is subtly curved to sit comfortably against the body, with two bars that allow the piece to be threaded onto a belt of fabric or leather. A romantic jewel that may have been worn by a genuine Romantic. Circa 1820.
