Sublime Royston Turquoise Hopi Ring by Bear

Royston turquoise of sublime blue hues is set in this mesmerizing Hopi ring. Royston turquoise is known for vivid colors that run together in the same stone and rich, golden brown matrix. Three stones are set in scalloped bezels down the middle of a curvy silver plaque. The edge of the plaque is decorated with an overlay curlicue pattern, in which a carved layer of polished silver is applied to a layer of oxidized silver. This creates a shadow box effect of contrasting light and dark, a technique developed by the Hopi tribe. The long, flat silver plaque sits atop a split-shouldered band. The back of this marvelous ring is hand engraved with the name "Bear." Circa 1970.
