Roman Soldier Carnelian Intaglio Ring with Meander

This ring is dramatic, with a nod towards classical antiquity. A handsome Roman soldier is carved intaglio in rich red carnelian. The carnelian is set in sterling silver, framed in a wide collar engraved with a traditional meander pattern. The decorative top sits above a wide, flat band. The back of the wide collar is engraved with something difficult to decipher, perhaps the name of the artist. Circa 1970.
