A fun Modernist ring from Dankner & Sons. The signet-style 14k gold ring set with three rows of gems, alternating sapphires, and diamonds prong-set vertically down the ring's face. Wide curvaceous shoulders taper into a half-round band. The inside of the ring is signed "Dankner 14k Copyright." This chic Modernist piece will start many a conversation. Circa 1960.
Henry Dankner founded his business in 1930s Budapest. In 1944 the Nazis invaded Budapest; they seized everything of value from the Dankner workshop, forcing the family to flee Hungary. In the 1950s, Henry re-established Dankner in the United States. He focused on charm manufacturing, and by the 1960s, the business had grown to employ over 27 people. Later Dankner pieces were distributed by major jewelry houses like Cartier, Harry Winston, and Van Cleef & Arpels. When George passed away, his sons Robert and George took over the company. After 60 years, the company closed its doors, donating its paperwork and molds to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Details... Currently a size 6.75. The top of the ring measures 15mm by 15.1mm, and the band is 2.7mm wide. The piece weighs 9.6 grams. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
