Starry Victorian Pearl & Gold Convertible Pendant Brooch

A superb Victorian brooch of starry pearl-studded gold. Layers of 14k gold give the brooch a depth of design and a level of detail that elevates it above the pack. The star's many rays are set with natural pearls that graduate in size, from the largest at the center to the tiniest at the point. This star sits over a second star; small pearls are prong set at the tip of each ray that burst between the first star's rays. Wear it as a brooch or swivel up the hidden pendant bale and hang the piece on your favourite chain. Circa 1890.
