One of the things I love about old jewels is the way in which people improvised repairs, and the fact that they repaired rather than replaced things, often imbuing the item with greater meaning. A common way to repair chains was to stitch them together with heavy thread, this one retains it's 19th century repair in faded red thread. I've added some Victorian sterling chain and a big spring ring and swivel hook to make this sweet sentimental chain versatile and wearable. The ingredients in this necklace date from 1860-1900. All of the ingredients in this necklace are recycled and vintage.

Details.....The necklace is 23.75" long, the over sized ring measures 14mm across, and the hook is 16.6mm long.
