This strand of large, faceted amber beads makes a bold statement. The natural reddish-brown amber barrel beads are graduated in size and strung on red silk. The necklace is finished with an unusual sterling silver clasp. Circa 1920.

Since ancient times, Chinese have called amber “hu po”, which means the courage or spirit of the tiger. It was believed the souls of tigers turned into amber upon their release from this plane.

Details.....The necklace is 34" long. The beads graduate in size from 10.5mm by 7.5mm to 31.8mm by 22.8mm. You should always expect some wear on your antique and vintage jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
