Striking Victorian Belcher Ring with .70ct Old Mine Cut Diamond
A striking Victorian belcher ring set with a fabulous old mine cut diamond. The dazzling .70ct stone has a VS2 clarity and H-I color. It is displayed in the classic buttercup style, with six prongs and the fluted petal-like head that gives this style of ring its sweet nickname. The 14k gold setting has wide openwork shoulders with a flourish that resembles, depending on how you look at it, either an arrow or a heart. This decorative element tapers into a slim half round band. The ring's sparkle and glossy, curvaceous lines give it an ebullient character that will but a smile on your fave. Circa 1880.
The belcher setting (also called the buttercup setting) has prongs integrated into the body of the ring. Popular in the late 1800s, this style offers a sleek, tapered design with a low profile.
Details.....Currently a size 7.75. The top of the ring measures 10mm wide, and the band is 1.6mm wide. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should expect all vintage and antique jewels to show some wear; we consider it part of their charm.
