This Ring. I love the way the lapis is inset into the segments of the gold body of the scarab beetle. The ring is 14k yellow gold and dates from the 1960's, each element of the has an Egyptian hallmark, showing it was made in Egypt. This beauty is a large scale it stands up and makes a bold statement. The scarab is an important symbol, it was revered as a giver of life, the belief being beetle (Scarab) rolled the sun across the sky. Lapis has also played an important role in Egyptian life for millennia, it was crushed and used to color the eyelids of high status Egyptians and found in the jewelry of tombs from Nefertari to Tutankhamen.
