Glowing mabé pearl and distressed gold create an elegant mid-century brooch with fascinating contrasts. The lucent half-pearl sits in a raised collar at the center of a 14k gold disc. The convex gold disc is engraved with a delicate cross-hatching that gives the brooch an antiqued effect. It is beautifully made, subtle and luxurious. Circa 1960.
Mabé pearls, also known as blister pearls, are half-pearls cultivated on the inside of a mollusk's shell.
Details.....The brooch measures 1.06" in diameter. In Very Good Vintage Condition. Small imperfections and wear are to be expected in vintage and antique jewels; we consider it a part of their charm.
