This mid century brooch reminds me of a Calder mobile I saw once in a museum. Beautiful and graceful and purposeful this brooch is a work of art. About 15 years ago I was lucky enough to buy a group of jewelry from a wonderful artsy lady who purchased directly from studio artists in the 1950's and 60's. She told me of her adventures, walking up flights of stairs to an artists aerie, meeting Margaret DePatta, shopping street fairs and seeking out interesting and unique hand crafted jewels. This brooch is one of the items I purchased from her, it and a few other pieces, have been resting in the vault at GSL, ready to be worn again by another carefree spirit. 14k yellow gold and pearls Circa 1950-60.
Details.....The brooch measures 1.86" x 1.90" and is in lovely condition.
