A Faeries Cross hangs from chunky vintage sterling silver curb chain. The stone cross is staurolite, which naturally crystallizes in the form of flat and short prismatic crystals with cruciform twinning. The Victorians were fascinated by these naturally occurring crosses and thought them gifts of the faeries. They were believed to be imbued with the energy to protect you from harm and provide relief from stressful situations. The ingredients in this piece date from circa 1900 to 1940.
This line of jewelry is all about my two favourite things. The art of adornment and the art of Re-purposing. Using pieces that are no longer viable in their original configurations, I take them apart and create fresh wearable pieces of jewelry.
Details.....The bracelet is 7.5" long, the cross measures 17.2mm x 13.4mm.
Small imperfections are to be expected and considered part of the design.
