A classic strand of heishi beads studded with natural turquoise tabs. The heishi beads are made of shell and the color of the turquoise has a pretty hint of green. The piece is finished with engraved sterling silver cones and the hook and eye clasp often seen in the necklaces of this era. Circa 1970.

Heishi (meaning "shell") beads are small disc or tube-shaped beads made of shells or stones, traditionally cut, polished and drilled by hand. They originate with the Kewa Pueblo, previously known as the Pueblo of Santo Domingo, people of New Mexico.

Details.....The necklace is 30" long. The turquoise tabs graduate from 9.6mm to 36.6mm wide. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on your vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of the charm.
