This highly detailed silver needle case is a vase form with a nature scene. The vases "handles" are bats with outstretched wings, one side has a squirrel eating berries and the other a heron and dragonfly. Needles were expensive and difficult to replace, they were stored in beautifully crafted cases for safekeeping. The case slides up the chain to reveal the tube for your sewing needles and there is a carnelian bead suspended from the bottom. This needle case is in lovely condition retaining its original patina.

This wonderful Chinese needle case dates to the Qing Dynasty, China's final imperial dynasty.

Details.....The Case is 6.15" long including the belt hook, and .97" wide at its widest point. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on antique and vintage jewelry; we consider it part of the charm.
