Victorian Book Chain with Aesthetic Movement Locket

This necklace has the loveliest classic Victorian features. A gold filled book chain with beautifully detailed links is secured by a garnet-set clasp. The garnets are a mouthwatering wine-color. Suspended from that clasp is a wonderful Aesthetic Movement locket, adorned with stylized floral and geometric designs. The locket contains two pictures: both handsome men of the era. Circa 1880s. 

This style of chain is known as a "book chain" because the folded flat links resemble the cover of a book. It is also said these flat chains were often used as book marks. Perfect, we love old books as much as we love antique jewels.

Details.....The chain measures 19" wearable length. The garnet front clasp measures 1.05" by 0.63". The locket measures 1.28" by 1.25". In Excellent vintage condition. You should expect some wear on all vintage and antique jewels, we consider it part of their charm.
