This Hobé peacock necklace is wild. The gold-tone peacock pendant is set with blue and green glass cabochons. A fringe of golden chain represents the tail feathers, with blue and green glass beads "eyes." The dramatic pendant hangs on a short chain with beaded stations. While I think this necklace was meant to evoke Theda Bera, it screams Endora to me. Marked "Hobé" on the back. Circa 1960.
In 1887, master jeweler Jacques Hobé established his company in Paris. Hobé's son brought the company to the United States around 1927. Hobé created gold, silver, and platinum jewelry in many styles and designs. The family-run Hobé Company stopped producing jewelry in the early 1990s.
Details.....The chain is 16" long, the pendant measures 2.75" by 3.55", and the fringe is 2.9" long. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
